Apple has just released the new Mac operating system – Ventura. With it comes a host of new features from a new search engine, passkeys, message editing, stage manager, handoff and much more. Apple have redesigned their ‘system preferences’ application to mimic the iPhone IOS to provide a more familiar, coherent experience across devices. Though this change has meant that finding particular features now follow a different path. Some applications, such as Malwarebytes and other antivirus applications, have been affected as MacOS Ventura blocks Full Disk Access which is required for real-time protection.
This article will go through how to grant full disk access to third party applications.
1. Go to the Apple icon
In the top left, click on the Apple icon, a drop-down menu will appear.
2. Select 'System Settings...'
3. Select 'Privacy & Security'
Scroll down on the left-hand side and select 'Privacy & Security' or alternatively use the search bar at the top.
4. Select 'Full Disk Access'
Now scroll down in the middle section and select 'Full Disk Access'.
5. Grant Access
A list will generate of all the applications and services that require access and they will either be granted or prevented access via a blue toggle.
If the toggle is set to off, then you will be required to put in your password in order to grant access.
You can toggle on specific applications that may require Full Disk Access however make sure that this is a trusted application before doing so. Some antivirus products require reactivation since the MacOS Ventura update, and this process should amend any issues.
