In just four days, our team embarked on an ambitious project to enhance internet connectivity across three different sites in England. Our primary goal was to improve internet performance, ensuring faster and more reliable connections. Along the way, we transformed outdated and chaotic comms cabinets into neatly organised, fully functional setups. Here’s a glimpse of our journey and the remarkable transformations.
Site 1 - Leicester
Before
Our first site was in Leicester, where our client was transitioning into a warehouse with a pre-existing network setup causing a reduction in internet performance. Additionally, the communication cabinet was a chaotic mess of cables, complicating management and troubleshooting tasks.
After
Several enhancements have been implemented to improve the network. The setup was overhauled to increase internet speed and reliability. The comms cabinet was reorganised for easier maintenance. Cables were properly routed and labelled. A leased line and a failover line were installed to ensure uninterrupted connectivity. Additionally, 5 access points were strategically placed across the site to provide consistent internet speeds throughout the building.
Site 2 - Loughborough
Before
Next, we arrived in Loughborough and were surprised to discover that during the reinnervation of the new false ceiling, the previously run cables were cut off. This unexpected revelation meant that the job had transformed from simply fitting a new comms cab to running new cables to all of the ports.
After
We ran new cables to the existing ports, fitted new faceplates, and installed a neat comms cabinet equipped with a leased line and a failover line. This overhaul not only enhanced internet speed and stability but also resulted in a clean, organised setup that ensures efficient network management.
Site 3 - Leeds
Before
After two exhausting days, we arrived at our last destination, Leeds, where a tangled web of cables was leading to network inefficiencies and sluggish internet speeds. The client had recently leased the office building adjacent to the current site, which lacked any network infrastructure and needed internet coverage on four floors.
After
Old Site - We revamped the cabinet, creating a tidy, organised setup complete with a leased line and a failover line to guarantee uninterrupted connectivity for the client round the clock. This transformation greatly improved internet performance, making the network more reliable and easier to maintain.
New Site -We installed a small comms cabinet on the basement wall, which included a fibre link from the old site. Additionally, we placed access points on all floors to guarantee consistent internet speeds across the entire site.
